Independence Stadium Security Policy
Fall, food, fun, football, and the Fair — who could ask for more?? Shreveport-Bossier and the Shreveport Police Department are gearing up to provide a safe environment for residents and guests alike as they gather to watch the Prairie View A&M University Panthers and the Jackson State University Tigers square off in the 2012 Shreveport Classic.
As part of our on-going commitment to make game day as safe and enjoyable as possible for all, the Shreveport Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind patrons of some pertinent information regarding the big game.
Parking will cost $5 at the State Fairgrounds.
For visitors traveling into Shreveport via Interstate 20, there are three exits that will get you to Independence Stadium: Greenwood Road, Hearne Avenue, and Jewella Avenue. After the game, traffic will be diverted north at the intersection of Greenwood Road and Missouri Avenue and west on Greenwood Road at its intersection with Hearne Avenue.
Here are some rules that will be enforced to ensure that the Shreveport Classic will be safe for all fans:
- No Outside Food or Drink
- No Ice Chests
- No Umbrellas
- No Oversize Bags (Bags must fit in 12″×12″ box)
- No Mace / Pepper Spray
- No Tazers / Stun Guns
- No Pocket Tools
- No Straight Blades
- No Fireworks
- No Video Cameras
- No Knives
- No Weapons
No alcohol can be brought into the stadium. Beer is available for sale in the stadium.
The Shreveport Police Department wants to make everyone aware of the City of Shreveport’s smoking regulations. Current laws prohibit smoking inside Independence Stadium. Anyone who wishes to smoke will be allowed to exit the Stadium. Fans will be directed to gate personnel who will hole punch their ticket and stamp their hand. The punched ticket stub and stamped hand will be required for re-entry into the Stadium. Smoking is prohibited inside the stadium and within 25 feet of any gate. This will be enforced by Shreveport Police Department officers working the game.
Golf Cart Policy
Personal golf carts are prohibited on Fair Grounds / Independence Stadium property.
The Shreveport Police Department will have uniformed officers working both inside and outside the stadium and we are looking forward to an exciting and safe Shreveport Classic.
